Awake Unto Righteousness

As we begin to search out the truth of God's creation, we look at His creation of the human race. Adam was the creation of man, and as God declared:
"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them." Genesis 1:27
God created man, male and female, the same as He did with all the different species. And God gave man dominion over everything He had created. God created a garden of paradise for man to live in. Man's total duty was to tend (take care of) the garden. Then God brought all the animals, birds, insects, and everything He had created to Adam to name. What a mind Adam (man) was given! Then came the time God decided man needed a help mate. So God did something that man has never figured out:
"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;" Genesis 2:21
God caused a deep sleep to come upon Adam, and he slept. But the Word does not declare God ever woke Adam up from this sleep. God's creation man has been in this deep sleep ever since. The Hebrew word for deep sleep is TARDEMA and means "a sleep caused by the intervention of God." Down through the centuries few men have aroused out of their deep sleep to do mighty works for God. Even when one awakes out of sleep, they still have what is called `sleep in their eyes'. So their vision is blurred, and they cannot see clearly. Another thing that goes to sleep is our hearing, and only a sharp noise will disturb this sleep. Jesus explained the condition man has fallen into, to His disciples:
"For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." Matthew 13:15
Man needs a great healing, both in his physical being and in his spiritual being. After God put Adam into a deep sleep, he could no longer see or hear God spiritually.
Next comes the encounter with the serpent. Eve stood and spoke with the serpent, repeating the words God had spoken to her about the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But Eve, nor Adam, understood the word God had spoken to them, because they had no conception of death. But the serpent gave them assurance:
"And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:" Genesis 3:4
This message is still in the church today. Many pastors preach, "Thou shall not surely die. You will either go to heaven or hell for all eternity." Neither of which is true. Then the serpent continued:
"For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:5
The serpent promised Adam and Eve, if they would partake of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil their eyes would be opened, and they would be as gods. Again, this is the message the world gives to God's people today, saying they should know both good and evil to become a super human being.
"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." Genesis 3:6
Yes, the woman did eat of the tree, but her husband was right there with her. He also partook of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. And as satan promised:
"And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked: and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons." Genesis 3:7
Adam and Eve's eyes were opened, and they found themselves naked, without the Holy Spirit covering God had covered them with. Man remains in this same condition today. Their physical eyes are open, but their Spiritual eyes are in a deep sleep.
As we continue our search for the truth of God's creation, we need to look at the life of Paul. Paul was a mighty man of God who revealed many mysteries of God. He revealed unto us how the church was to operate. And in his many letters, he gave us much knowledge as to what God expects of us. But by Paul's own words, we come to the understanding that Paul still had sleep in his eyes:
"For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:" Romans 7:22
Yes, with all his heart, Paul wanted to serve God, but he also knew he could not clearly see God's whole purpose for his life:
"But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members." Romans 7:23
Paul realized something was still in his members he did not understand. This unknown part of his life kept him in captivity to his fleshly existence. It was Paul's state of Adam sleep that kept him in this death state. Hear Paul's hearts cry:
"O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death." Romans 7:24
We can only be delivered from this body of death when we awake from our Adam sleep, and wipe the sleep from our eyes so we can clearly see the plan God has for our life. Paul continues:
"I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin." Romans 7:25
Paul's innermost being was crying out to serve God, but he had not risen above his Adam condition where he still served the flesh man. Paul addressed this Adam sleep in most of his letters. To the Corinthians, Paul declared:
"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." I Corinthians 13:11-12
The world today is still serving their childish things and anything that pleases the flesh. If they cannot have these things, or if they are taken away, then they cry like babies - - - throwing tantrums - - - and some even kill themselves because they do not think they can live without these flesh pleasing things.
As Paul stated, now mankind only sees through a glass darkly. The glass Paul is speaking of is a mirror. When we look in the mirror, everything is reversed. We never really see ourselves as others see us or as God sees us. This is because our eyes are still clouded by our Adam sleep. But when our eyes clear, then we will see God face to face. As Paul related, we now only know in part - - - or just a portion of the total truth God has for us.
Then Paul gives us the assurance that when we awake from our Adam sleep, we will know as we are known. We are known by our name. What Paul was saying was, we will know everything God has for us as well as we know our own name. What a promise God has made to us! Jesus even explained the condition of His Kingdom people at His return:
"While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept." Matthew 25:5
This is his virgin church who has not been defiled by the worldly religious system. Jesus proclaimed that all the virgins were asleep. They are still in their Adam sleep. Notice, too, that all the virgins who were looking for Jesus' return had oil in their lamps. These were God's anointed. Jesus declared that five of these virgins were wise and five were foolish:
"But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps." Matthew 25:4
The five wise virgins which had some Spiritual understanding of the days in which we live, had the oil of preparedness with their vessels. They had prepared themselves for the day of trouble. These were ready to enter in when the bridegroom returned. These aroused from their Adam sleep to prepare their vessels while the bridegroom tarried. But the five foolish virgins remained in their Adam sleep, ignoring God's anointed voice that was proclaiming, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord. The Kingdom of God is at hand." Their wake-up call went unheeded. When those who were prepared entered in, the door was shut. When the unwise attempted to enter in, they cried:
". . . Lord, Lord, open to us!" Matthew 25:11b
Those who are awake will enter in. Those who refuse to hear the trumpet of God will not enter in. They will remain in their Adam sleep.
What happened to the five unwise virgins? They were cast into outer darkness (the wrath of God) where there was weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. These had to endure until the end to be saved.
As we look deeper into this subject, we discover the prophet Isaiah spoke much about awaking out of our Adam sleep condition:
"Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion." Isaiah 52:1-2
As we read the Old Testament, we come to the realization that the daughters in the Old Testament are referring to the church in the New Testament.
Isaiah writes, "Awake! Awake! Put on thy strength." What is our strength? The word strength is translated "power and might." Our power and might only comes from the anointing.
God has promised that the uncircumcised and the unclean will not come unto us. The uncircumcised are those who have not cut away the flesh to expose the headship of Christ in their life. The unclean are those whose robes of righteousness are spotted with the unclean things of the flesh. All these have been allowed into the church, but God's day of separation is coming when God's people will shake themselves from the dust (their Adam nature), and sit down in the Kingdom of God.
Luke penned the promise of Jesus to all His disciples:
"And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the Kingdom of God. That ye may eat and drink at My table in My Kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel." Luke 13:29 & Luke 22:30
Today many believe in the false doctrines man has brought into the church, such as `once-saved, always saved', and `ultimate and universal reconciliation'. But one of the most damnable heresies is the teaching of the `rapture'. Isaiah also addressed these false teachings:
"Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, It shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:" Isaiah 28:15
Today men have hid themselves under the lie that there will be no judgment. Some teach all you must do is get saved, then no matter how you live, there will be no judgment. You are home free. Others teach all will be saved, even satan himself will be ultimately saved. Others believe before any tribulation comes, they will be miraculously taken off the earth - - - and go somewhere - - - they know not where - - - until the tribulation is ended. Others try to scare people into heaven by an eternal hell. These all have made a covenant with death and hell. Many in the church system teach "Thou shalt not surely die." Eve believed this lie in the garden. Many also believe when the overflowing scourge (God's wrath) passes through, it will not come near them. These all have a plan of escape. These lies have become their only hope, and they refuse to awake out of their Adam sleep.
As we consider what Paul wrote to the different churches concerning their Adam sleep, then our eyes can be opened also. To the Corinthians, Paul wrote:
"Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." I Corinthians 15:34
Paul related, "Some have not the knowledge of God." There is a Bible in almost every home. Many sit on the shelf, coffee table, or perhaps tucked away in a drawer somewhere, but they remain unopened and unread - - - and the people remain in their Adam sleep.
Paul cried out "Awake to righteousness and sin not." But many people would prefer to remain in their ignorance of the Word of God. When these stand before the great white throne judgment seat, they will soon discover ignorance is no excuse for not knowing the Word of God. As Paul disclosed, he spoke this to their shame. These who refuse to awake to righteousness fulfill the words of the All-wise Solomon:
"How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? A Little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep" So shall thy poverty come." Proverbs 6:9-10 & 11a
Many are walking in Spiritual poverty because they have not awakened out of their Adam sleep. They remain in the place where they were lulled into spiritual death.
God wants us to deal with the old Adam nature. The Adam nature is the dust nature that rules and reigns in our life. God desires that we deal with this old Adam nature, and awake out of our Adam sleep. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans, revealed:
"Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God;" Romans 6:13
The original reads "But yield yourselves unto God as those that are alive from among the dead," (Berry's Interlinear Greek English New Testament). The dead are all around us: those who are dead in their sin, and those who are dead because they remain in their Adam sleep. God's anointed voice is crying unto all the virgins to awake out of their Adam sleep, to arise and put on their beautiful garments.
The beautiful garments they are to put on are their robes of righteousness. These robes can be spotted by the flesh when we yield ourselves to unrighteous thinking or actions. When we do this, we remain among the dead who have never awakened out of their Adam sleep. But praise the Lord, those who are awakened our of their Adam sleep are part of the first resurrection.
"Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." Revelation 20:6
Those who are awakened out of their Adam sleep are those who will rule and reign with Christ for the one thousand year millennium. The second death will not be able to touch those who have awakened out of their deep sleep.
Today when a catastrophe happens such as 911, some arouse out of their sleep. But not much time passes until they fold their hands and go back to sleep, believing everything has returned to normal, and they are again safe. But God warns of even greater judgments that are on the way. Paul wrote to the Ephesians:
"Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." Ephesians 5:14
By Paul's writings, we understand that God considers those who are asleep to be dead. The Bible states we are dead in our sin. There is only one way to get out of our spiritual death, and that is by Spiritual resurrection. When we awake from our Adam sleep, we are being resurrected from the dead.
God has promised as we awake out of our sleep, He will give us light. The word light means "Christ will pour upon you the divine truth as the sun gives light to men aroused from sleep." We hear people say, "I cannot understand the Word of God." This is because they remain in their Adam sleep, but God has promised:
"See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now He hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven." Hebrews 12:25-26
There is a violent shaking coming. God is going to shake our earth realm (our physical realm), and He is going to shake our heavenly realm, (our spiritual realm). So the result will be . . .
". . . those things which cannot be shaken may remain." Hebrews 12:27b
God is going to violently shake our whole existence, trying to awaken His people out of their sleep state. Again, Paul wrote to the church at Rome:
"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed." Romans 13:11
It is time, and past time, for God's people to wake up to the hour in which we live. The Bible is being fulfilled daily. All God's promises and His judgments are coming to pass. The apostles and prophets wrote much about the day in which we live. All we need to do is to read God's Word and pray for understanding.
Many have given up on the church system because of their lukewarmness and their false doctrines, but God gave us the assurance that He is not done with those who are called by His name. The church has been dead to the true meaning of God's Word, but Paul, by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, promised God would wake the true church from their dead condition, and give them light.
"While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
And when He came into the house, He suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
And all wept, and bewailed her: but He said, Weep not: she is not dead, but sleepeth. And He put them all out and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid arise." Luke 8:49 - 52 & v54
Today many have given up on the daughter (the church). These glibly state, "Trouble not the Master!" But Jesus truly has compassion on the church in this last hour. Jesus desires to remove all who still hold on to fear, doubt, and unbelief. Only those who truly are crying out for God's healing touch to bring back the daughter to life will be permitted to remain in the room.
Jesus refers to the church as the daughter, or little girl. He refers to her in this way because the church has no sign of maturity. There is nothing to indicate here that the daughter (the church) is a grown woman.
Notice, only those who were mature were allowed to remain in the room; Peter, James, John, and the father and mother - - - those who were weeping and wailing for the daughter (the church). Jesus declared, "She is not dead, but only sleepeth."
Jesus has many fathers and mothers who have left all to follow Him into the Kingdom. To these He says, "You alone may remain to see My glory and My miracle." To these, He will show how He will miraculously take the daughter (the church) by the hand, and cause her to arise.
Jesus will show all those who believe He has not abandoned the church that He is not finished with her. He knows she is not dead, but remains in her Adam sleep. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the day God will raise up His church:
"Thus saith the Lord, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for My servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all." Isaiah 65:8
The new wine is the double portion anointing. The cluster is the body of Christ. God will remind those who are crying to destroy the church that there is still a blessing He has in the church. God will not destroy it completely, but will shake it until it wakes up - - - or, until it goes into a deeper sleep. But be warned, those who will not wake up God will destroy with the brightness of His coming.
Today many claim, as soon as we confess our sins before God, we automatically become the sons of God. The apostle John asked the question:
"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is." I John 3:2
John asked, "Now are we the sons of God?" If he had to ask the question, the obvious answer is, "No, we have not yet come into sonship with the Father." Then John makes the statement, "It does not yet appear what we shall be." Those who remain in their Adam sleep have no idea what God has planned for His `son company'. Paul quoted the Old Testament when he disclosed to the Corinthians:
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." I Corinthians 2:9
Those whose eyes are filled with sleep cannot see, and those who have not awakened out of their sleep state have not heard, nor can their clouded minds imagine the things God has planned for those who love Him more than the things of this life. But as Paul related: ". . . but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is."
Those whose eyes have been opened know when He appears, we shall see Him as He is, because we will be like Him. What did John mean when He said, ". . . we shall be like Him". We are informed in God's Word:
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth." John 4:24
Our God is a Spirit, and when we become like Him, we will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, and receive our spiritual bodies. Our spiritual eyes will be opened, and we will see Him as He is. This will be our new birth, when we will be truly born again. Paul attempted to explain this to the church at Corinth:
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." II Corinthians 3:18
Again, we are looking into a glass (mirror). The mirror we are looking into is the Word of God, and what is reflecting back to us is the glory of God that we are to become. The more the glory of God is reflected back to us, the more we are changed into the image we see of the Father and the Son in the Word. The more we read, and God begins to wipe the sleep from our eyes, the more we are changed into the image we see in the Word, and we go from glory to glory, and we are gradually changed into His image by the Spirit of God. The Psalmist David understood what God is trying to reveal to us in His Word:
"As for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness." Psalm 17:15
David also realized man was in his sleep state. David recognized when man awakes, he will be in the likeness of God. This should not be surprising to anyone, because man was originally created in the image and likeness of God in the garden.
What God has promised throughout His Word is that He is going to bring us back to our created place in Him, praise the Lord! When we come into this place, He will return us to His paradise here on earth. The prophet Isaiah gives us insight as to the days ahead:
"Arise, shine: for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Isaiah 60:1
Isaiah says to Arise! When we wake up, then we arise. Then Isaiah says, Shine! The word shine means "to be illuminated." This is when the glory of the Lord will come upon His people.
When Moses returned from Mount Sinai, his face shone, and he had to put a napkin over his face when he spoke to the people. This was because the people were afraid to come near to him because of the glory of God that shown upon his face. We see another instance of this glory in the New Testament:
"Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them." Acts 5:15
It was not Peter's shadow that healed the people, it was the glory of God that was upon Peter's whole body that overshadowed the people. The glory of the Lord was upon Peter's whole being. This is the glory that will arise upon each of us, as we awake out of the deep sleep God placed upon Adam.
Isaiah continued his description of the day in which we live:
"For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee." Isaiah 60:2
A deep sleep is still upon the people, and darkness has covered the earth, and gross darkness the people. But when we awake and open our eyes to God's Word, then God's glory will be seen upon us also, just as it was upon Moses. When this happens the people will be afraid to come near us, or touch us, because they will know not to touch God's anointed.
We hear from people across the earth, that there is a Spiritual awakening in God's people, to those who are being shaken awake by the completion of God's Word in their lives. As some are being Spiritually awakened, most of the church continues in their Adam sleep in their comfortable pews, and their apathetic way of life.
But God is going to bring a shaking upon the earth, of which no man can imagine to awake those who sleep in the dust of the earth (their mortal bodies). The prophet Daniel made it very clear what God's people can expect:
"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." Daniel 12:2-3
Some who awake will awake to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. The wise virgins are those who awake to everlasting life. These will shine as the brightness of the firmament. These shall turn many to righteousness. These will be as the stars for ever and ever.
But Jesus spoke of the other five virgins who were not wise, and who were not prepared for the Kingdom. These will be awakened, but to shame and everlasting contempt.
As stated before, both the wise and the foolish virgins had oil in their lamps. When the cry was made, "The bridegroom cometh!" all the virgins arose and trimmed (lit) their lamps. But the foolish virgins lamps went out, and they cried to the five wise virgins, "Give us of your oil." But the wise could not share the oil of preparedness in their lives.
The wise told the foolish to go and buy oil from those who had robbed them of their inheritance (the foolish preachers who had not prepared the people). The wise virgins were ready to enter in at the Lord's return, and they went in and the door was shut.
"Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord! Lord! Open to us! But He answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not! Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." Matthew 25:11-13
Luke informs us what will become of the five, foolish virgins:
"When once the Master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord! Lord! Open unto us! And He shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets. But He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out." Luke 13:25-28
The five foolish virgins will have no part of the Kingdom. These will be cast into the great winepress of the wrath of God where there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. When Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets sit down in the Kingdom, then these five foolish virgins who awake to shame and everlasting contempt will be thrust out of God's Kingdom.
We may ask, "Why is this going to happen?" Paul informed the Corinthians why:
"Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." I Corinthians 15:34
Why is this going to happen? It is because the people failed to awake unto righteousness and cease from their sinful ways. These do not have the knowledge of God, because they have left their Bibles on the shelf, coffee table, or in a drawer, never looking into the mirror of life. Paul spoke this to their shame.
It is time for this nation, and especially God's people, to awake to righteousness, and put off their sinful, dust nature. It is time to seek the Lord with a pure heart.
The government cannot save us, only the one who died for our sins can bring us through the day of darkness that lies ahead of us. Praise the Lord!
