A Tribute To Our Mothers

A Mother's Temple
by Hattie Hall

from KathieLopez Ohio HS Maillist

A builder built a temple;
He wrought it with care and skill...
Pillars and groins and arches
All fashioned to do his will.

And men said as they saw it's beauty;
"It will never know decay.
Great is thy skill O' Builder!
Thy fame shall endure for aye."

A Mother built a temple
With infinite loving care,
Planning each arch with patience
Laying each stone with prayer.

None praised her unceasing effort,
None knew her wondrous plan,
For the temple the mother built
Was unseen by the eye of man.

Gone is the builder's temple...
Crumbled into the dust,
Low lies each stately pillar
Food for consuming rust.

But the temple the mother built
Will last while the ages roll
For the beautiful unseen temple
Held a child's immortal soul.

by Rachel Huff

We don't consider some people
And the wonder that that they are
We're always looking for somebody great
But we don't have to look far

I know women who use thier hands
To help make others smile
Making one smile is working for the Lord
And their works stretch for miles

Their love is thick and strong
They're gentle and they're kind
They're there when one's sick
And they are a treasure to find

Who are these women, you may ask
Whose love is thick as covers
Look around and you will see
These women are our mothers.

Lost and Found:

Little Lambs Safe in the Fold

From a homeschool mother of two preschoolers:  I have always wanted to homeschool.  Would you believe my father suggested that I do home school. After retiring he works part time as a school bus driver and can see how bad things are. I was terrified of stories of little girls and boys being raped, torture, and brutalized in public school, and the schools do nothing. I wanted my children to learn about Christ, and that wasn't going to be allowed in public school. I was sickened by the fact that the public schools could or would not teach the majority of it's student to read. I watched my nieces and nephews learn very little even when we knew them to be bright. Their parents being told they had learning disabilities, WHICH they wouldn't test for until they had failed 3 YEARS in a row!  When I had my daughters I refused to have their lights dimmed or their innocence destroyed much too soon. I was excited by the idea of omeschool.  God Bless,  Mellisa   from OHio Hs Miaillist

Quotes:  "Children gain a love for truth by watching parents practice truth; they learn to emulate noble Character. " J Richard Clark

Quotes from Kathy Lopez: A preacher's wife once told me that God creates children with muscles and commands the muscles to move and we turn around and command them to be still.

Discipline - discipline that comes through the truths of the Savior's loving voice taught under the guidence of a loving parent

Spoons are for cooking and eating, Belts are for holding up pants, Paddle ball paddles are for games, Hands are for loving

Quote from Amy:  If you go to Psalms, you read that Thy rod and thy staff comfort me. If you keep with the symbol of Christ being The Shepherd, you  realize  hat a Shepherd does not use his rod to beat his sheep into submission. A good shepherd will gently  place the rod along the sheep to guide the sheep in the paths the sheep should go. Elsewhere I have heard of an Iron Rod to be symbolic of Word of  God. If we continue with this analogy, we could say that we need to use Word of God to gently lead and guide our children in the paths they should go. Quotes from Kathy Lopez Ohio HS Maillist

Craft Page:

i know you get discouraged
because i am so small
and always leave fingerprints
on furniture and walls
so here's a final handprint
that you can display
and remember how my hands looked
in kindergarten in May.

Craft ideas:  Decorate something with the childs handprint or make a
plaster handprint to go with the poem.   again from Ohio Hs Maillist

The Lamb
by William Blake

Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life and bid thee feed
By the stream and o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, woolly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice
Making all the vales rejoice?
Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Little Lamb, I'll tell thee,
Little Lamb, I'll tell thee:
He is called by thy name,
For He calls Himself a Lamb.
He is meek and He is mild;
He became a little child.
I a child and thou a lamb,
We are called by His name.
Little Lamb, God bless thee.
Little Lamb, God bless thee.
