Goshen - God's Protected Place
By George Kirkpatrick

As we study the symbolisms in the Bible, we can get a clear picture of what God is doing, and is going to do. Many of God's people in the Bible are types. Abraham is a type of God the Father. Isaac is a type of Jesus the Son, and Jacob (Israel) is a type of the Holy spirit anointing.

Moses was a type of God's complete plan of salvation. Moses was born when all the male children born in Egypt were to be killed. But Moses' mother made an ark of bulrushes, and Miriam, Moses' sister, put the ark with Moses in it, into the river. Pharaoh's daughter found him and made him her own son. So because he was the son of Pharaoh's daughter, Moses became Pharaoh's grandson, and was given the best of everything, including education.

Moses lived three perfect lives. He lived forty years under the law. At the age of forty, he went into the field and found an Egyptian mistreating a Hebrew. Moses killed the Egyptian and should have been given the death sentence for his act of murder, but Moses fled where he lived, and spent another forty years in the land of Midian, under God's grace. When God called Moses to be deliverer for His people, He related to Moses:

"And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet."

So the next forty years of Moses life, he lived by God's Kingdom principles. As God's Spirit anointed deliverer, Moses answered to no one but God. It was said of Moses:

"And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend." Exodus 33 11a

Another typology in the Bible is Egypt. Egypt is a type of the world. When God heard the cries of the Hebrew children who were in bondage in Egypt, God sent Moses to Pharaoh. God instructed Moses to say to Pharaoh, "Let My people go, that they may go three days into the wilderness to worship me."

Those who are in bondage to the world cannot worship God. The number three is God's complete number. It will take a three day journey (complete deliverance) to free God's people from their earthly bondage.

We need to remember a day with the Lord is a thousand years. So God will free His people on the third day. It has been two days since Jesus walked the earth. We are about to enter the third day. But before that day comes, there is a three and one-half year judgment that will set God's people free from all the bondage that has held them in captivity to the world.

As we witness God's glorious hand upon His people down through the ages, we observe what seems like much hardship and unfairness. But looking back, we can see God's perfect plan for His people. When Jacob's ten sons sold Joseph into Egypt, it seemed so unfair, and down-right criminal. But it was this act that brought deliverance to all God's people.

Joseph's brothers came to Egypt to buy food, because there was a great famine in the land of Israel. Joseph sold them food, but returned their money. When the food ran out, they were not allowed to return to Egypt unless they brought their younger brother Benjamin. Joseph kept his identity from his brothers until their second trip.

Upon their arrival the second time, Joseph revealed himself to his brothers. Joseph had the wisdom to know how God had used him to save the life of His people. Joseph's brothers thought he would use his position as second ruler in the land of Egypt to get even with them. But Joseph declared:

"Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life." Genesis 45:5

God put Joseph through being falsely accused by Potiphar's wife, a prison sentence, and betrayal by Pharaoh's butler. All this, he suffered to be a preserver of life. When the brothers returned, the famine was still in the land. Pharaoh and Joseph supplied wagons and goods for the sons of Jacob to return and bring Jacob's whole household to Egypt where they could survive the famine.

There were seventy people of Israel who came to Egypt. Pharaoh gave Jacob and his sons the land of Goshen. Goshen is in Northern Egypt, east of the Lower Nile. This was very fertile land and perfect for grazing and agriculture. Israel flourished and multiplied in the land of Goshen.

Observing Israel's great growth in Goshen, Pharaoh worried they would become too strong and would turn against him in times of trouble. So he set taskmasters over them, and made their lives hard - - - so hard the children of Israel cried out to God for deliverance. It was then God sent Moses as His deliverer.

But God hardened Pharaoh's heart and he would not let Israel go. So it was necessary for God to send ten plagues upon Egypt, until Egypt was completely destroyed. We need to view these ten plagues to discover what God is going to do to deliver His modern day people, just as He delivered the children of Israel from Egypt (the world).

Jesus revealed to John seven plagues in the book of Revelation that would be poured out upon planet earth. As we view these plagues in the book of Revelation, we will discover the similarity between the plagues on Egypt and the plagues at the end of this age.

The book of Revelation is a book of sevens. Seven is God's perfect number.

1 Jesus' revelation was given to seven churches                               2 Seven golden candlesticks                                       3 Seven stars
4 Seven lamps                                                                                5 Seven seals                                                             6 Seven horns
7 Seven eyes                                                                                  8 Seven angels                                                           9 Seven trumpets
10 Seven thunders                                                                        11 Seven heads                                                          12 Seven crowns
13 Seven golden viols                                                                   14 Seven mountains                                                    15 Seven Kings
16 Seven Plagues

So the seven plagues reveal God's perfect judgment upon planet earth. Just as seven is God's perfect number, the number ten is God's number of completion of His divine order.

In the book of Revelation there are seven trumpets which announce God's wrath and seven vials or bowls which contain God's wrath (or plagues). As we compare the ten plagues God poured out upon Egypt with the seven plagues in the book of Revelation, we will discover they are much the same, and with the same results:

"Thus saith the Lord, In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink of the water of the river.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone." Exodus 7:17-19

The word blood means "cause to be silent and to die." So it should be clear the waters of Egypt become poison and whenever Egypt drank of the waters, they became ill or died.

"And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river." Exodus 7:24

The water in Egypt became unsafe to drink. As we consider the plagues God will pour out in this last day, we see the similarity between Egypt's plagues and the plagues in Revelation:

"And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed." Revelation 8:8-9

The third trumpet is like unto the second. It, too, will affect the water.

"And the third angel sounded and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters:

And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter." Revelation 8:10-11

When the third angel announced, the plague hit again upon the water. But this plague was upon the rivers and the fountains of waters. So the wells and aquifers, the underground rivers that supply the wells and springs of water were made bitter.

The name of this star was called Wormwood. The word wormwood is the Greek word APSINTOS and is the name of a bitter, poisonous plant and the word suggests calamity.

The second and third trumpets announced the plagues upon all the waters. The second and third bowls contained the plagues.

"And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea." Revelation 16:3

"And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy." Revelation 16:4-6

As we consider what has happened, and will happen to our water supply, we know our water supplies in most of the world have become unsafe to drink. In many third world nations, people have died when they drink the water. Many diseases come from these unsafe water supplies. In this nation bottled water has become big business. All the major bottling companies have become producers of bottled water - - - and some even question the quality of these products. City water supplies must be drenched with chlorine (poison) to kill the bacteria.

Agriculture, pesticides, herbicides, and other forms of suicides have poisoned the water supplies. Their poisonous sprays poison the water which run off these poisoned fields. In some parts of the country, the water supplies have been poisoned by nitrogen fertilizers. The dumping of sewer water and untreated body waste is another serious problem to our water systems. But as Jesus warned John on the Isle of Patmos:

"And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea." Revelation 16:3

Man will not only be unable to drink the water, but our food supply will be affected. We will not be able to eat the fish from the sea. The world consumes millions of pounds of seafood every day. Factories have polluted the seas, streams, and rivers. Their industrial wastes which contain mercury have made the fish in many waters unuseable as food. Paper manufacturing plants are equally guilty. Our water supplies have been, and will continue to be affected.

The next plague to be poured out upon Egypt was frogs:

"And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:

And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:" Exodus 8:3-2

Frogs are associated with swamps and uncleanness. Frogs are only mentioned twice in the Bible: with the plagues in Egypt and in the book of Revelation:

"And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." Revelation 16:12-14

These unclean spirits were like frogs - - - and just as frogs affected every part of life in Egypt - - - the unclean spirits will affect every life on earth. These unclean spirits will come out of the mouth of the dragon (satan), out of the mouth of the beast (the savage beast nature), and out of the false prophet (those who falsely serve and speak for God, but are antichrists). And what is their goal?

"And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." Revelation 16:16

Their goal is to bring forth the final conflict of man. Today there is a great push for many nations to obtain nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are not defensive weapons. Nuclear weapons are offensive weapons. Down through history, we know when weapons are developed, they are always used.

We see these unclean spirits working in the earth today to pervert everything that is holy, clean, and good.

The next plague in Egypt was lice:

"And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt." Exodus 8:16

The word lice is the Hebrew word KEN and means "great swarms of gnats."

"And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt." Exodus 8:16-17

These great swarms of gnats affected man and beast. Even though lice (gnats) are not mentioned in the plagues in the book of Revelation, we know how insects have affected our everyday life. The more they spray their pesticides, the more immune the insects become to the spray, and man has to make his killing poison stronger and stronger. This has not only affected our water supplies, but also the health of man. Only one in ten insects are destructive, nine are beneficial. But the pesticides destroy the nine beneficial insects, in order to eliminate the one destroying insect.

The next plague upon Egypt was swarms:

"Else, if thou will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms (of flies) upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses, and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are." Exodus 8:21

As we notice this Scripture, the phrase "of flies" is in italics. This phrase does not appear in the original text, but was added. So what God sent were swarms. The word swarms is the Hebrew word AROB and means "diverse sorts of flies, a mixture of all sorts of flying insects." This includes not only flies, but mosquitoes, yellow jackets, and all forms of stinging insects. We know that flies, mosquitoes, and many of the other insects carry deadly diseases. Flies are a symbol of uncleanness. Uncleanness causes disease. Jesus reveals the pale horse rider to John:

"And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." Revelation 6:8

The word pale means "yellowish green." It is the sign of sickness. This pale horse will kill with the sword (war). War causes people to become maimed and killed. But war also means "disease and death, and death from hunger (famine)." When famine hits a nation, disease and death follow. Death kills in many ways: in accidents, in failing health, in heart attacks, in strokes, and all maladies of the body.

But death also comes by the beasts of the earth. Snakes, bears, and other wild animals are able to cause death. All these forms of death will kill one forth of the world's population of the earth - - - or between two and three billion people worldwide.

But will God's people suffer these plagues?

"And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms (of flies) shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth." Exodus 8:22

God separated Goshen from all the other parts of Egypt. There was no death or disease in Goshen, God's protected place. God has made His people wonderful promises of His protective hand:

"And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee." Exodus 15:26

God promises He will bring none of the diseases or plagues on His people that He brought upon Egypt. But this is not an open end guarantee. It comes with an IF, "if we will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord and do what is right in His sight, hear His commandments, and keep all His statutes (His prescribed conditions and decrees). Then, and only then, can we expect him to keep His end of the promise. He further relates:

"And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee." Deuteronomy 7:15

If we fulfill God's Word, we can be free from the worldly diseases He put upon Egypt. But He will put them on all that hate us and are hateful towards us. Today, man is developing bio-warfare at an alarming rate. The only protection from bio-warfare is to be in the protective hand of the Lord.

The fifth plague was about to come upon Egypt:

"Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain." Exodus 9:3

The word murrain means "pestilence and disease." This would come upon all the oxen (the work animals), the sheep (that which they depended on for their living), their horses, asses, and camels (their transportation and beasts of burden).

We all know what has happened with the mad cow disease, and the bird flu. Thousands upon thousands of cows and chickens have been slaughtered to keep disease and pestilence from spreading. Anthrax in hogs has wiped out whole herds. All these, man depends on for food. This has driven food prices sky high.

Again we witness God's protective hand on His people in Goshen:

"And the Lord shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel.

And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go." Exodus 9:4 & 7

There was not one dead animal in Goshen. When Pharaoh sent to check on the condition of the cattle the Israelites had, he had two purposes: one was to see if the cattle of the Israelites were affected - - - and two, if they were not affected, Israel being his slaves, he could take their cattle to rebuild his herds.

The next plague in Egypt was like unto the last:

"And the Lord said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt." Exodus 9:8-9

This small dust affected both man and beast, causing boils and blains (blisters). These maladies of the skin caused much pain, so much so, that they could not work. These boils and blisters would be all over their bodies, their hands, face, and private parts. This is like the plague God will pour out upon the earth in the last days:

"And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your way, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image." Revelation 16:-2

Noisome and grievous sores fell upon those who had taken the mark of the beast and worshipped the image of the beast. The word noisome means "troublesome, injurious, destructive and baneful." The word grievous means "very painful, causing blindness." These noisome and grievous sores, like those in Egypt will affect every part of the body.

The next plague upon Egypt was a grievous hail:

"Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.

And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.

So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field." Exodus 9:18, & 23-25

God sent grievous hail upon Egypt like there had never been before since Egypt became a nation. This was a fierce storm with thunder and fire (lightning). The hail fell throughout all the land of Egypt and killed all that were outside, both man and beast. It also beat every plant to the ground and broke every tree. This correlates with the plague God will pour upon the earth in these last days. The first trumpet announced this plague:

"The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up." Revelation 8:7

The plague of hail was mingled (mixed) with fire, just as the plague in Egypt. But this hail was also mingled with blood. This plague was not only upon the earth, but it was mingled with blood. This plague would affect every living creature. The trees and every green thing were brunt by the fire. We further look at this plague of hail when the bowl of wrath was poured out upon the earth:

"And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great." Revelation 16:21

These hailstones will weigh between one hundred and two hundred pounds each. Anything these hailstones hit will be totally smashed - - - including men, beasts, trees, and plants. This plague will be exceedingly great and will affect the whole earth.

When the people witness these great hailstones, you would think they would repent and ask God to forgive their sins. But just as Pharaoh's heart was hardened, so will the unsaved hearts be hardened, and they will blaspheme God and curse His name because of the plagues.

But what about God's people in His protected place?

"Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail." Exodus 9:26

God has a people, and He has a protected place for His people. There was no hail, no lightning, and no thunder in Goshen. Nothing of the children of Israel was affected.

God would bring the next plague upon Egypt which was locusts:

"Else, if thou refuse to let My people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:

And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:" Exodus 10:4-5

This was the last of the plagues upon the earth. The locust would cover the earth, and every green thing left from the plagues of the hail would be eaten by the locust. Egypt was totally destroyed. Even Pharaoh's servants tried to change Pharaoh's heart:

"And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? Let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed." Exodus 10:7

Everyone in Egypt knew Egypt was destroyed, from Pharaoh who sat on the throne, to the lowest servant. When God's judgment comes, it will be complete. Jesus explained to John this complete devastation upon the earth:

"And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhibitors of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound." Revelation 8:13

The angel announced three more woes were yet to come upon the earth. The word woe is an explanation of grief. The first woe had to do with locusts:

"And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." Revelation 9:1-3, 5-6

When the bottomless pit was opened, smoke arose out of the pit, and out of the smoke came locusts. These locusts would destroy everything left by the hail. These were not only destroying locusts, these were stinging locusts. Their sting was like the sting of a scorpion. These stinging locusts will torment men for five months. These will make mens' lives so miserable they will want to die, but death will flee from them.

But God has given His people assurance these locust will not hurt them:

"And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads." Revelation 9:4

Those who have been sealed of God will be in God's protected place, where there will be green grass and trees, and they will be totally protected all during the wrath when God pours it out upon the earth.

Just as there were no locusts in Goshen, there will be no locusts in God's protected place for His people. These are God's green spots. These green spots are all over the earth for God's people to flee to.

"One woe is past; and, behold, there are two woes more hereafter." Revelation 9:12

Now we will look at the ninth plague to hit Egypt:

"And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days." Exodus 10:21-22

This darkness could be felt. The word felt is the Hebrew word MASHASH and means "to grope, to feel, and to search." This darkness lasted three days. This had to seem like a life time when there was no light at all.

"They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings." Exodus 10:23

In Goshen, God's protected place, the children of Israel had light. God always protects His people. Darkness is simply a lack of light. The word light means "understanding and knowledge." The prophet Isaiah gave us insight into those who walk in darkness:

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20

Those who do not speak according to God's Word have no light (knowledge or understanding) in them. Darkness was also a plague God would pour out in the last day:

"And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise." Revelation 8:12

When the fourth angel sounded, the sun, the moon, and the stars were smitten. The word smitten means "to strike or to render useless." It is not clear exactly how this will happen, but the bowls give us insight as to how this will affect planet earth, and those who dwell therein:

"And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given him to scorch men with fire.

And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds." Revelation 16:8-11

The heat of the sun will be much more intense. We already witness this with the depletion of the ozone layer, only it will get much worse. And when this happens will they give praise and glory to God? No, they repented not and their hearts will be hardened.

When the fifth angel sounded, mens' kingdoms were full of darkness, and they gnawed their tongues for pain from the stinging locust. These two bowls were poured out during the five months the locust were stinging men as scorpions. But again we witness mens' hearts being hardened, just as Pharaoh's heart was hardened. And they continued to blaspheme God because of their pain and sores.

There was one last plague God would pour out upon Egypt:

"And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts." Exodus 11:5

The last plague was death in every household. Not only would the firstborn of every household die, but the firstborn of all the animals would die also. Mourning was the order of the day for all Egypt (the world).

But God prepared His people in Goshen, so there would be no death in any household if they were obedient to His Word.

"Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.

And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you." Exodus 12:21-23

Israel was to kill the passover lamb, and with a bunch of hyssop, they were to apply the blood on the lintel and the side posts of the door - - - or, they were to have a complete covering of the passover lamb's blood to protect their household. We know by the Word that Jesus is our Passover Lamb, and if we have a complete covering of His blood, then the plagues coming upon the world will not come near us, because we will be in God's protected place.

Death is one of the plagues God is going to pour out upon the earth. The trumpets announce this plague:

"Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men." Revelation 9:14-15

Today, the population of the earth is over six billion people, so these four angels will slay one-third, or over two billion people. How will these be slain?

"And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet." Revelation 16:12-13

When the sixth angel poured out his bowl upon the Euphrates River, the waters were dried up, and the way of the kings of the east was prepared. The unclean spirits, like frogs, came out of the mouth of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophets. As Jesus revealed:

"For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." Revelation 16:14

These unclean spirits are spirits of devils, and working miracles. These go forth unto the kings of the earth to gather them to the battle of the great day of the Lord.

"And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." Revelation 16:16

The word Armageddon means "the hill of Megiddo, a place of great slaughter, the scene of a terrible retribution upon the wicked."

The waters of the Euphrates River were dried up. To discover where the Euphrates River is located, we must look at Genesis:

"And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates." Genesis 2:14

The River Hiddekel is the Tigris River. As we know, the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers flow through the heart of Bagdad in Iraq. These rivers were in the Garden of Eden. It was also the location of the heart of ancient Babylon. Today modern Babylon (the United States) is fighting in the Garden of Eden with ancient Babylon.

Is God preparing the kings of the earth for the day of His great battle? Are the kings of the east being prepared against the intruders from the west who will bring about this great battle? God has warned His people:

"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame." Revelation 16:15

Blessed is he that watches and keeps his garments. His garment is the Holy Spirit covering. Those who lose their Holy Spirit covering will be found naked, just as Adam and Eve were found naked when they were disobedient to God's Word, and the Spirit left them.

When all the plagues upon Egypt were completed, God spoke to Moses:

"This month (shall be) unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you." Exodus 12:2

When the plagues were finished, God began a new calendar for Israel. This month was the beginning of months, or a new year. The month they fled Egypt was the first month of the year for them. When we come out of Egypt (the world), we will begin a New Day (year) of our existence. The same thing will happen at the end of the plagues in Revelation:

"And sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He hath declared to His servants the prophets." Revelation 10:6-7

When the great battle of Armageddon is over, time as we know it will be no more. It will be the beginning of a new day. It will be the beginning of the Kingdom of God.

"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever." Revelation 11:15

The seventh angel sounded, and the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord (Christ Jesus) and His Christ (His anointed ones who will rule and reign with Him forever and ever). We are shown something else concerning this time frame:

"And the nations were angry, and Thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that Thou shouldest give reward unto Thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear Thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth." Revelation 11:18

God will destroy them who have destroyed the earth. All those who have caused these plagues to be poured out upon the earth, God will destroy.

We need to look at the Scriptures to see if God has planned a protected place for His people in this last hour of time:

"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered." Revelation 12:1-2

Who is this woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and has the crown of twelve stars? This is the true church of God. She is clothed with the sun. The prophet Malachi spoke of these who were clothed with the sun:

"But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall." Malachi 4:2

The SUN of righteousness will rise with healing to those who fear His name, and these will grow up (be matured) as calves in the stall, totally cared for in God's protective place. This is the same glorious light that will enlighten those who make up His Holy City.

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof." Revelation 21:23

It is the glory of God that will lighten those who make up the Holy City, New Jerusalem. This is the same light Paul saw on the road to Damascus:

"At midday, O King, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me." Acts 26:13

This is the same light that clothed the woman with the sun. She had the moon under her feet. The moon is the light that shines out of the darkness all around it. The phrase she had the moon under her feet means she was victorious over all darkness, or she was the overcomers.

Jesus revealed to John, she also had a crown of twelve stars. Twelve is God's number of government. The crown means authority. So she represents the rulers and reigners with Christ. She was with child, travailing to be delivered:

"And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne.

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that she should feed here there a thousand two hundred and threescore days." Revelation 12:5-6

She brought forth a man child, or a male son. What the true church brought forth was the manifested sons of God who will rule all nations with a rod of iron. The word rule should have been translated "shepherd, or to govern." The manifested sons of God will shepherd or govern with a rod (authority) of iron (strength). It should become evident these are the Christ, the anointed overcomers who will rule and reign with Christ for the one thousand year millennium, and then for all eternity. Praise the Lord!

The true church who brought forth these manifested sons will flee into the wilderness into God's protected place, where they will be fed for twelve hundred and sixty days, or during the time God pours out the plagues of His wrath upon the earth. God's protected place in the wilderness is the land of Goshen for God's people in the end of the age. Jesus revealed something else:

"And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent." Revelation 12:14

The woman was given two wings of a great eagle to fly into the wilderness. This is the same observation God made about the children of Israel:

"Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto Myself." Exodus 19:4

Eagle wings are the sign of strength. The eagle flies above all trouble in the earthly realm. God is going to strengthen His people, and keep them from harm as they flee. Praise the Lord!

"And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood." Revelation 12:15

The serpent, or the demonic realm, cast out water as a flood, that the woman might be carried away by the flood:

"And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth." Revelation 12:16

This is symbolic of what God did for Israel. When Pharaoh cast out of his mouth orders to his army to overtake and bring back Israel, the Red Sea opened her mouth, and swallowed up Pharaoh's army.

God is making us the same promise today. God has his Goshen planned for His people, and we have the same promise of protection and care God gave Israel.

As God's judgments are drawing near, so is His plan of redemption for His people. We cannot only stand on His promises, we can depend on them. God's true church are the only people on earth who have hope for the days ahead. It is time to rejoice in that we know the God of the whole universe.

Today many are proclaiming a great revival at the end of the age. Nowhere in the Bible does it speak of a great revival. What the Bible speaks of is man cursing and blaspheming God because of the plagues. In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul informed us of a great falling away:

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;" II Thessalonians 2:3

Be not deceived, those who do not have a heart for God will not repent during His wrath.
