Many in the body are suffering financially, and they wonder why. When Israel returned from their Babylonian captivity to rebuild the temple and Jerusalem, Haggai the prophet spoke to those who God's blessing had been withheld, saying:
"Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes." Haggai 1:6
Because they had not done the work God had for them to do, God had withheld their financial blessing. Haggai continued his admonition to the people:
"Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways." Haggai 1:7
The body of Christ needs to consider their ways. They need to ask themselves why God's blessings have been removed? God's body needs to heed the words of Haggai:
"Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? Saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house." Haggai 1:9
What house is the Lord referring to? It is his house he is trying to erect in the earth, the temple of the living God. Paul spoke of this temple in his letter to the Corinthians:
"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" I Corinthians 6:19
Paul says our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. When we come into the true anointing, we are no longer our own to do as we please. We become the property of the one who has purchased us with his own blood. Most of the body today is guilty of building their own house and letting the temple of God lie in waste. This is why they have sown much and bring in little. This is why the food they have been fed no longer satisfies. This is why the water of the Word no longer has any affect in their life. This is why their righteousness no longer clothes them with God's grace and mercy. This is also why their money seems to evaporate through the holes in their bags. Those who have forgotten their first love, and have run to their own houses of self-comfort and self-rule need to consider their ways. Praise God!
