The Bride Clothed in White Linen

The Word of God is made manifest to all who are seeking His direction through the Word. The prophet Ezekiel gives us clear warning as to who will enter into God's presence, and who will be shut out:

"Thus saith the Lord God: No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into My sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel." Ezekiel 44:9

As Paul declared, those who have not been circumcised in the heart and in the spirit will not enter into the Lord's sanctuary, Acts 2:29. The word God gave Ezekiel continues:

"And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within.

They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth sweat." Ezekiel 44:17-18

Those who believe the Old Testament is only for ancient Israel need to follow the words of Isaiah who declared:

"Precept must be upon precept, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10

This is how our understanding comes together in the Word. Ezekiel declared those who enter into the Inner Court, His Holy of Holies which is His sanctuary shall be clothed with linen garments. No wool shall come upon them. Those who enter in will have linen bonnets, linen breaches (undergarments) and will be totally covered from head to foot with linen. They will have no covering which causeth sweat.

As we look at what God is revealing through the pen of Ezekiel, we must look at the New Testament. Jesus revealed to John on the Isle of Patmos:

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready.

And to her (His bride) was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." Revelation 19:7-8

The bride of Christ is making herself ready for the return of the Bridegroom. Those who make up the bride of Christ will be clothed inside and out with the righteousness of Christ. Who is the bride of Christ. The bride was revealed to John:

"And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride the Lamb's wife.

And He carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God," Revelation 21:9-10

God's messenger declared the bride, the Lamb's wife to be the Holy City, New Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. Paul declared this Holy City, New Jerusalem is the "mother of us all", Galatians 4:26. Who are those who will make up this Holy City? Those who do not gird themselves with anything that causeth sweat. These are those who have ceased from their own labors. Paul explained this in his letter to the Hebrews:

"For if Jesus had given them rest, then would He not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His." Hebrews 4:8-10

Those who ceased from their own labors are those who have come to the same revelation as Paul:

"The works were finished from the foundation of the world." Hebrews 4:3

God entered into His rest on the Seventh Day. Those who have ceased from their own labors and are clothed with the righteousness of God, too, will enter their rest on the Seventh Day which is the day of His rest for all God's people.
