Woe To Them That Go Down to Egypt For Help

God has given a multitude of warnings about the judgment and destruction of this nation as we know it. The prophet Hosea informs us:

"I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets." Hosea 12:10

As we Spiritually comprehend the similitudes in the Bible, we discover the word similitude means "to liken or to compare." We come to the understanding when God speaks of Egypt, He is referring to "the world, the worldly people, and worldly nations." The prophet Isaiah gave us a similitude of what the United States is doing with their so-called coalition with all the heathen nations of the world. Isaiah proclaimed:

"Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!" Isaiah 31:1

Woe to them who go down to Egypt, or "back to the world" for help. Woe to them who trust in horses and chariots (military strength). Woe to them who look not to the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord. After 9-11 all we see is "God Bless America" signs. The question then arises, "When is America going to bless God, and thank Him for all the years of blessings He has bestowed upon them?" Instead this nation has thumbed their nose at God instead of thanking Him for His mercy and staying His hand of judgment. Now that God has whet His glittering sword, He will make haste, Deuteronomy 32:41, to bring His swift judgment. Isaiah continues:

"Yet He also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back His words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not Spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out His hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together." Isaiah 31:2-3

The people of the world cannot help when God's judgment falls because their help comes from the flesh realm, not the Spiritual realm. As Isaiah proclaimed, those who help and are helped will all fail together. The word fail means "to be at an end, to be finished, to be spent, used up." Those who have put their trust in man-made coalitions will fail together. Those who put their trust in the military instead of the living God will all fail together. God's glittering sword is in His hand. This nation does not need to unite under the flag, they need to repent before an holy God.
