"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called ye out of darkness, into His marvelous light."I Peter 2:9

Put Off Blasphemy

"But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth." Colossians 3:8

The word blasphemy means "to speak evil, to rail, slander, to speak injurious of another." Another term used for this in God's Word is backbiting. Speaking behind another's back is to do them harm.

Just as it was in the days of Noah . . . "every imagination of the thoughts of his heart (man) was only evil continually," Genesis 6:5b. Men, women, and childrens' minds are on evil things. They would rather tear down and speak injurious words about their friends, neighbors, brothers, and sisters behind their back instead of speaking good things about one another.

"Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another." Romans 14:19

Paul says we need to edify one another, to build up, and encourage. These are the things which make peace. A backbiting tongue causes strife, contention, and separation.

ARE YOU TEARING DOWN OR BUILDING UP?

We can never build ourselves up by tearing down others; you never raise yourself up by standing on others. As Paul said in Colossians 3:8, we need to put off blasphemy, putting it far from our life.

"And it repented God that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart." Genesis 6:6

Is the Lord grieved at you because of your thoughts and words?

"But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." Genesis 6:8

It was said of Noah in II Peter 2:5 that Noah was a preacher or righteousness. Noah spoke to edify and lift up. He spoke of the coming judgment that would come upon the people of unclean thoughts.

"Who shall ascend unto the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing of the Lord, and righteousness from the Lord of His salvation. This is the generation of them that seek Him, that seek Thy face, O Jacob. Selah." Psalm 24:3-6

These are the only ones who have put off blasphemy.
From Keith Huff

From the heart of Tommy Donaldson for the Christian youth:

As I think about the youth that are being raised in the admonition of the Lord, it lets me know how important it is to see their hearts pointed in the right way. It makes me want to help them and pray for them that all the wrong things stay away. Proverbs 22:23 says, "For the Lord will plead their cause and spoil the soul of those that spoil them." God's protection over our youth is remarkable. We need to pray for that protection.

I sincerely hope to apply my heart unto helping them all I can. Youth, continue to be in the fear of the Lord. By obeying Him, it shows your love toward Him. My final word for you all is to keep god's love burning in your hearts, as He gave it to you from the start. God bless the youth!
