"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called ye out of darkness, into His marvelous light."I Peter 2:9

Pray Without Ceasing

by Keith Huff

I Thessalonians 5:17 tells us we are to pray without ceasing. The word PRAY means "to entreat grace, to ask, to judge self, to bow down, song or praise, pouring out, talking to God." Paul gave us direction on how we can pray to God. We can pray to God to intreat His grace. Another way we can pray is to ask God how we are to judge ourselves. When we pray we are to bow down in humility. We can pray by pouring out our hearts to God with singing as well as with talking directly to Him. The word CEASING means "to come to an end, silent, leave off, to let fall." Can we say, "I have prayed without ceasing?"

"Evening, and morning, and at noon will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice." Psalm 55:17

David knew it was important to pray without ceasing. He prayed in the evening. In our dark times, we need to pray also.

"For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee." Isaiah 60:2

We live in a time of darkness. Sin is abounding. But let the Lord arise upon thee.

David also prayed in the morning. The morning is the time of awakening.

Paul tells us: "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore put off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Romans 13:11-12

We need to wake up and come out of our Adam sleep. The New Day is at hand. Begin watching and praying that ye may be accounted worthy to stand before the Son of man.

David also prayed at noon. Noon time is in the heat of the day.

"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." I Peter 4:12-13/

Don't cease to pray when the hot trials come. The Lord wants to bring all the dross to the top that He may cleanse us like precious gold and silver.

"But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? For He is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap. And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and He shall purge the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness." Malachi 3:2-3

"For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." I Peter 3:12

God's ears are open

Let Him hear your voice

Love Thy Neighbor

by Jenny Maskey

"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:18

We need to love our neighbours and our brothers and sisters in Christ. We should not have any grudges against them.

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." Deuteronomy 6:5

We need to love the Lord with our whole heart, just not half of it.

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you." Matthew 5:44

We need to love our enemies, even if they curse us and despitefully use us and hurt us.

"Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Matthew 19:19

Not only are we to love our neighbours, we are to love and honour our father and mother.

"If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" I John 4:20

We should love one another as God loves us. And if we say that we love God, and hate our friends and neighbors and family, then we are really saying we do not love God.

"These things I command you, that ye love one another." John 15:17
