AJuniper Berry   Juniperus communis

Dosage: 1 capsule (400mg) daily taken at mealtimes. Increase fluid intake throughout the day.

Contains: Volatile oil containing terpenes, alcohols notably terpinen-4-ol, pinenes and camphene. Miscellaneous compounds also include sugars, tannins and resin.

Juniper berries should not be taken continuously for more than six weeks.

Juniper is often combined with other urinary antiseptic and diuretic herbs such as Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (Bearberry), Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion leaves) and Zea mays (Corn Silk).

Stimulate urinary flow, diuretic. Relieves sinusitis inflammation. Take juniper and comfrey in capsules for prevention of allergies. Juniper Berries assist in clearing infection and can be used to disinfect wounds. Good for arteriosclerosis, rheumatic pain, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, fluid retention and cellulite. It is a genital and urinary tract antiseptic, a circulatroy stimulant, and it increases stomach acid. It is suitable for acne, eczema, and dandruf. It is good for those with mental fatigue, insomnia and anxiety and for those who are emotionally drained. Female birth control because it is a uterine stimulant that brings on menstruation. Juniper Berries can be used in a spray to disinfect a room where contagious diseases or present. Juniper Berries have excellent external medicinal value used to apply to the skin to keep away infection. The berries can be of great value used ina poultice enclosed in a cloth and applied to the skin, or take a hadful and add to a warm bath to soothe aching muscles, bruises or wounds. The berries used in this manner can bring relieft to arthritus.

Caution: Avoid during pregnancy and inflammatory kidney disease. Limit use to 4-6 weeks in succession. It can be harsh on the kidneys, so choose a more gentle oil if they are inflamed.

Do not use if you have gastric inflmmation or acute UTI.

Do not use when pregnant. It is known to cause miscarriage.

Juniper is a potent diuretic and can be harmful to anyone with a kidney problem. As little as six drops of the oil can have a toxic effect whether or not you have kidney disease. Never just pick a handrul of berries and munch. The safest way to use juiper oil is to buy it in health food stores as an ingredient in other combinations.

Overdose can cause personality disorders, convulsions, and catharsis.

May interfere with iron absorption and other minerals when taken internally.
