Pillars Grounded in the Word of Truth

by K Huff, OH

We need to begin the construction of our pillars with the Word of God as our foundation so that we may become strong pillars for others to learn upon. In order to become those pillars unto others, we must fill ourselves with the Word of God, firmly grounded in the Word of Truth. The word ground here means "to be firmly fixed, to be established, to stand". When we are ground in the Truth than we are able to be that Pillar of Strength, first to our husbands, than to our brothers and sisters in Christ, and lastly to those who come to us for ministry, especially those who don't know the Lord, and they are having hard times. By being Ground in the Truth there are many benefits that we can offer others.

God's Word is Truth, John 17:17

When we are ground in the Word, we can bring forth Life and Light unto others. John 14:6 says "I am the way, the truth, and the life." John 6:51 says that Jesus is that bread of life" Those who partake of that bread have life in them. That bread is not only the physical bread that we can see when we take Communion, but it is also the Word of God. The Word of God is also bread. When we partake daily from the Word of God, that Life is found in us. Because of that life being in us, we than can speak truth unto others, which than brings forth the light in us. They would not come to us, if they hadn't seen some type of light in us.

The Word is healing, Psalm 107:20

When we are ailing, or someone else is. The Word will heal them. It heals us by us reading it. It will heal others by speaking it to them.

The Word is Conviction, Psalm 119:9

When we read the Word of God, it convicts us in the areas we are doing wrong. When this happens, we are to take heed, and change our ways. Psalm 119:59 "I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies." When we read God's word, it makes us think, than we begin to think upon our life style. This is where the conviction is, and the desire to change comes about.

The Word is our lamp, Psalm 119:105

Let the Word of God direct your paths, so in turn, you may help others. Psalm 119:133 "Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me."

The Word is also our Strength, Psalm 119:28

Let the Word give you strength, so that you in turn may strengthen others. You can help to strength others because of the Holy Spirit which is in you. II Corinthians 1:3-4 "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."

The Word is also HOPE, I Tim 1:1

When we have the Word in us, we are able to portray it unto others, they come to you, because they see something in you. That something in you is HOPE. Our hope is Jesus Christ who is the Word of God.

A pillar is composed of many small pieces compacted together. When we begin to build with the many perfectly fitted scriptures of God's Word, we are preparing the foundation of our pillars to stand firm and steadfast. The pillars we build then will be able to bear up much weight. Others can then draw strength from the Word of God which has been compacted together to become the ground work, the foundation of our Spiritual pillars.

We cannot remove ourselves from aiding and helping others. When it is necessary for us to be a Pillar for our spouse, brothers, sisters and others, we must stay in the Word continually to help them become strong again. A pillar can be used to lean against. Let them lean on the Words of God which you have filled yourselves with.

I know that the Lord wants us to be that Pillar of Strength for others. Just remember that before you can be that Pillar, the Pillar must first be built, and be made strong by filling yourself with the Word of God. A weak Pillar, will not be of much strength. It can take a little leaning on, but after a while, it too, will crumble.

Cutting Away Discouragement

by A. Abraham, OH

Deuteronomy 1:28 talks about a "discouraged heart" when the giants, greater and taller than we, come against us. As God's people, we have a tendency to become easily discouraged, not just by the words of our brethren, but by situations and circumstances. We allow this when we look at temporal things and make them of great importance in our hearts. We forget about the realm of God that is not seen with our physical eyes, yet eternal.

There is an eternal work or change taking place in our heart right now. The LORD is trying us, so we can see any fear, doubt, discouragement or UNBELIEF that is in our heart and that would cut us off. The Lord would have us go in and possess the promise land. The Spirit of Truth is waiting to strengthen and lead us in to possess (or repossess) that which is ours in the Spirit!

Yet, too many times, we dread or fear what the Lord has before us. The word DREAD, in verse 29, means "to harass, be affrightened, fear, oppress, prevail, shake terribly". This is what we, as God's people, MUST cut away from our pillars if they are to stand. We must willingly allow the Holy Spirit of God to reveal and root out any fear, doubt, discouragement or unbelief from our heart that we may be a strong support to those around us.

The Lord has promised, in verse 30, 3 things that He desires to do in our life: go before us, fight for us and bear us up. In verse 32, we find that Israel did NOT believe the Lord. We need to learn from this example because this is when the Lord was provoked to anger by them and said not one of them would see that good land.

If it is our desire not only to see but possess the promise land, then we MUST believe Him. The word believe in verse 32 means: "to build up or support, to render firm or faithful, to trust, to be permanent or quiet, to be true, stedfast". The Lord has been very faithful to us. He has shown us His hand many times in our lives today. We need to remember the times He has strengthened us and shown us mercy and loving-kindness in the past, that when discouragement or dread try to overcome us we will not be quick to forget, like the children of Israel.

God's Word warns us that when we allow discouragement in our hearts it will not only cause us to faint with fear, fatigue and grief, but will also affect all those around us. It spreads quickly, and is like a tall, inpenetratable wall. When this happens we are no longer a pillar of strength, but one that is in danger of the Lord's wrath. Discouragement leads to fear; fear leads to doubt; doubt leads to unbelief; and unbelief leads to death. Romans 11:20 Says that because of unbelief they were broken off.

The Lord would say to us as Joshua said to Israel,

The Lord would have us wives, mothers and young ladies be alert, and fortify our hearts and our homes with Praise & Thanksgiving for all that he has done and will do.

Commiphora myrrha

Myrrh makes a good gargle and mouthwash for sores in the mouth and throat, sore teeth and gums. It also is good for bad breath, loose teeth and weak gums,. Its disinfectant properties make myrhh suitable as a wash for sores and wounds.

The Spiritual application of Myrrh to our mouths is very healing. Many times our mouths get us into a lot of trouble in more ways than one. We need to apply the myrrh of the Word to our mouths to disinfect the evil communications; those things which are not edifying: backbiting, murmuring, complaining, blasphemy and other bad odors which may come forth from our mouths.

We need to let the disinfecting Words of Christ dwell in our mouths, richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and Spiritual songs, singing with grace in our hearts to the Lord, Col 3:16. The Words of the Lord are pure words, Psa 12:6 to be used as a cleansing agent to aid in removing all things not spoken by the Father! Eph 5:26, That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the Word.

Gargle daily with the Word!
