THE POWER OF PRAYER
by K. Huff, OH
"Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars", Pro 9:1. The pillars of praise and prayer compliment each other so beautifully. When we truly learn to pray with praise in our hearts through all situations, God's wondrous works are made manifest in our lives.
I had been a Christian for a little over a year when the Lord revealed His majestic power to me through someone else's prayer. I was in the 9th month of pregnancy. I was carrying our third child. During this whole time of pregnancy I had carried the baby very, very low. There was a continual pressure on the bladder. The Doctor began to get concerned during the 9th month. He could hear the baby's heartbeat, but it wasn't coming from the right spot. He ordered an Ultra Sound to be performed. From the Ultra Sound, the Doctor was able to tell that this baby was going to be a breach baby.
From reading the Word and hearing of other people's testimonies, I knew the Lord could heal, although I hadn't experienced it myself. The following week at Church I asked for the Pastor and the Elders to pray for this baby. In James 5:13-15 " Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."
In Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." I asked to have the baby turn around so it would be born normal, not breach. That is exactly what the men prayed for. The following week, I was actually able to feel the baby turn around. It was an awesome feeling. Two weeks later a 7 lb. 11 oz. baby girl was born. She was born natural, and with her head first. What an all powerful God we serve!!
A CHILD'S PRAYER

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." *** Matthew 19:14
Sometimes we may not think that the little children can minister the Word or the gifts of the Spirit. But Jesus recognized the need in the kingdom for their simplicity. They aren't burdened down with philosophy or doctrine, they just operate out of simplicity. When we adults get too busy to see what is happening or to feel the Spirit trying to warn us, the children can become the channel that God needs to work through.
One Sunday morning we were having a hard time getting ready for church. Tension was on the rise and it was showing in all of us. My daughter (youngest of four children) was barely old enough to walk and hadn't learned too many words yet, but she was sensitive to a need that we all had missed. She crawled up to the counter, found the anointing oil, and proceeded to anoint all of us. As she did this, she gave a long string of babbling with each anointing. The attitudes that were present ceased. Now, four years later it is not unusual for her to yell, "Stop! Everybody be quiet. I'm going to pray!" I have listened to her pray for people that were going through a real hard time, even though she was not aware of their situation. I have learned to take notice when she wants to pray, and who she prays for, because she often lets me know who is in need of prayer. We all have learned in our house that when Tarah says, "Wait a minute, can I pray?", we let her;
A PRAYER FOR KNOWLEDGE
by L Bixler, OH
I have prayed for a long time that I would be able to increase my learning. Well, the Lord has done just that. Our church has begun a creative writing school, giving me that teaching I need. Through the Holy Spirit's help, I John 2:27, I am learning to read more effectively. You have to understand. I have had a problem with reading all my life. Public schools didn't want to teach people like me; so I was just passed on from grade to grade. When I graduated, I was reading 5th grade level. For those who understand this, if you can't read very well then you have many, many problems in life. Well, the Lord had given me a desire to learn. I still have some trouble, but it is getting better.
I am learning God's way to raise children, how to study His Word, how to sing, and how to write my own understanding of the Word so that I may minister to others. All I study is based around our Lord Jesus Christ, and I would not want it any other way. I desire God in me, through me and always in me because without Him I am nothing. Without him I could not do this myself. I give God all the glory. He is the only way and the only one to follow. He does answer prayer. By my faithfulness to Him, He will give me a family to praise His name. I have found that prayer is the only way to increase my knowledge. Prayer is the only way we can do anything. With out prayer there is no hope at all. God is the answer! by L. Bixler, OH
