Deceivers Wearing Down the Saints                     by J. Kirkpatrick
Refreshment From the Lord                                  a poem by J Kirkpatrick

Weariness causes many to faint. The faint hearted become feeble stragglers in their walk. Be warned! Satan lurks seeking whom he may devour.

Weariness causes fear to take over our life. In the time of David, Absalom, his son, arose and fought against his father:

"And I (Absalom) will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid..." *** II Samuel 17:2

Weariness causes our prayer life to be hindered. When this happens, we become as Moab who's prayers could not prevail, Isaiah 16:12. Moab could not prevail because of weakness. When we are worn out, there is no strength for the battle.

What can we do when we have fallen into the snare of weariness?

"Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary." *** Psalm 68:9

King David revealed the key that causes the weary to rejoice! The key is the "plentiful rain" of God's Word. When we allow God's Word to rain upon us, then are we refreshed.

Isaiah knew the key to "refreshment".

" ...This is the rest whereth ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:" *** Isaiah 28:12; 10

Applying the continuous pouring of the water of God's Word will cause the weary to be refreshed. The above scripture also warns us that weariness can cause loss of our hearing. God is speaking to His people to come apart and hear His still small voice. Yet many refuse to hear His voice.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus warned those who have allowed the seed to fall among the thorns. These are those who have busied themselves with the cares of this world and have allowed the deceit-fulness of riches to choke out the Word of God. Are you to busy to take time to spend quality time in God's Word?

Danger signals are evident! Look out for tiredness, fatigue, exhaustion, and no vitality. These are all warning signs. Don't become part of the multitudes whose hearts are failing them for fear. There is an answer. We must have a change of mind. What are our priorities?

Riches and the busy pursuit for the false happiness of worldly wealth will cause your heart to fail with fear. God is speaking to those who are "going on" into the Kingdom.

Wherefore as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear His voice,

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.

So I sware in My wrath, They shall not enter into My rest.

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." *** Hebrews 3:7,8,10,11 & 4:1

There is no stopping place along the way. If your weariness has caused you to become feeble and weak, you have become satan's prey; for satan attacks the weak and the stragglers. You must desire to "go on" to overcome. Only the "overcomers" are going to receive their inheritance in God..

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be His God, and He shall be my son." *** Revelation 21:7

If you have stopped off at any point in your walk towards God, you have settled for the worldly pursuit of happiness and the deceitfulness of riches.

Come apart! Hear God's voice! Change your mind!

Pursue the true happiness and the true riches found only in God!

a poem by Jeannie Kirkpatrick

Drinking, drinking, drinking,
I am drinking living waters.
It is a time of refreshing from the Lord.

Waves are sweeping, gently sweeping over me.
Your gentle flowing breezes,
Oh yes, Your gentle flowing breezes,
I feel Your gentle flowing breezes o'er my soul.

In the morning will I praise thee,
At the start of each new day.
I will lift my voice to praise your wondrous ways.

You have given me life eternal,
Your Spirit dwells within me.
I have this living water,
It is deep, deep, deep inside me.

Thank you, Holy Spirit,
Your waves of refreshing
Are totally covering me.
I feel your presence gently sweeping over me.
This is a precious time of resting and renewing.

When my walk grows hard and weary,
And the outlook is only dreary;
Yet you dwell continually within me,
Imparting strength and help and comfort.

Every step becomes a climbing journey;
Stepping, slowly climbing, into total obedience to Your will.
