"Thy wife shall be as a FRUITFUL VINE by the sides of thy house." Psalm 128:3a

Attention! Immediate Action Necessary!

"And He (Jesus) arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought Him for her. And He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them." Luke 4:38-39

Spiritually speaking, the Great Physician left the vast apostate church. In His search for a disease-free environment to place His name, He entered into Simon's (Peter) house. Peter's name means "stone" and Simon means "hearer". The Great Physician entered into the house of the living stones who were ready to hear, and what did He find there? Here, too, He found the symptom of a highly contagious disease in the woman (the church). With great concern, He diagnosed the problem and found it necessary to take immediate action.

As in Jesus' day, many servants in the church are greatly and understandably concerned about the evident presence of disease in their midst. In their fear of being contaminated with the highly contagious infections permeating their midst, they, too, are crying out to the Great Physician to enter the house of God and rid them of these infectious diseases. We, too, must recognize the symptoms of the fever in the midst of today's church, and cry out to the Great Physician before the infection spreads and destroys great numbers in our midst.

Jesus, the Great Physician, found it necessary to take quick and decisive action. He immediately took Peter's mother-in-law by the hand and took authority over the unclean, infectious things in her walk, her home, indeed in her whole environment before they had a chance to spread rampant throughout the area.

We must discern the underlying disease in God's house, as Jesus did. To begin with a fever is not a disease but a symptom of a disease. Also a fever is the body's defense mechanism against rapid spread of infection. We need to praise the Lord for the outward sign of the fever in our midst so we may take appropriate action to rid the underlying disease from our midst. What is the dreaded infectious disease that has entered the house of God and needs to be taken care of before it spreads throughout the church?

We gain the needed information to make this diagnosis from the outward manifestation of this fever. We know the characteristics of a fever. One of the most obvious manifestations is the patient's intermittent high temperature and then great chills. This presence of ever changing from hot to cold in the church reveals this hidden underlying disease. Indeed, in the book of Revelation, the Lord warns of this highly infectious environment:

"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold or hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest I am rich in goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent." Revelation 3:15-17 & 19

Servants of God, cry out for the obvious manifestations of lukewarmness in our midst. Immediate action must be taken against the germs invading the church. The Scriptures in Revelation 13 reveal the cause of this disease is the presence of material riches, the dainties of life, that have weakened our whole immune system to where it can no longer ward off the germs of disease. Do you see the presence of the invading germs of apathy present in the church whereby many state, "I am increased with every good thing. I have no need," when in reality the very life of the church is being sapped of its strength and its ery life?

Do you not realize the church as a whole is starving on full bellies? The milk, the bread, the meat of God's Word has been substituted for watered down, nutritionally empty calories, and most of the body does not even see the destruction this remittent fever is causing in their midst. Are you sitting in the house, being affected weekly by these ever spreading germs? Have you settled for easy words that only tickle the ears, but leave your whole being sick and starving for the truth found in God's Word?

This warning is to the Peter's and the servants in God's house. Immediate action is necessary to rid ourselves of this disease before it destroys the whole body.

My Resolution

A prayer of dedication from Robert Bastien DC#0-376620 Dorm J-104-U

Tonka Correctional Institute 3950 Tiger Bay Road Daytona Beach Florida 32124

I won't look back. God knows the fruitless efforts, the wasted hours, sinning, regrets...

I'll leave them all with Him who blots the record, mercifully forgives, and then forgets.

I won't look forward; God sees all the future, the road that is short or long will lead me home.

And He will face me with every trial, and bear with me the burdens that may come.

But I'll look up --- into the face of Jesus. For there my heart can rest, my fears are stilled,

joy, love, light for darkness, and perfect peace and every hope fulfilled. Amen.

We hear so much about the negative influences of cyberspace. Here is the prayer of an internet user who has found a blessing: author unknown

Every night I lie in bed, this little prayer inside my head
God bless my mom and dad and bless my children
and take care of my husband, he brings me so much joy...

And God there's just one more thing I wish that You would do
If You don't mind me asking, to just bless my computer too??

Now I know that its not normal to bless a small machine
but listen just a second and I'll try to explain...

You see, that little metal box holds more than odds and ends.
Inside those small components rest a hundred loving friends.

Some its true I've never seen and most I've never met
We've never shaken hands or even truly hugged, and yet...

I know for sure they love me by the kindness they give
and this little scrap of metal is how I get to where they live.

By faith is how I know them much the same as I know You.
I share in life You bring them, so if it's ok with You...

Just take an extra minute from Your duties up above...
To bless this little hunk of steel that's filled with so much love.

Because as prideful adults we sometimes become set in our own ways, there are times when it becomes necessary for us to be "born again" as a little child so the Lord may begin anew to reteach us of His ways.

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, He cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3:4

The Continuing Remembrances of Grandfather Oak,  # 4

Little Oak, I promised to share with you Abraham's first prayer as he entered our land. What a prayer we heard that day. O that more families would pray the prayer we overheard that day! And Little Oak, what a spectacular sight was the altar Abraham and his household made that day. It was remembered for many generations afterwards. Many of my ancestors have remarked how Abraham was known throughout the land for the altars and the prayers he lifted up before the one true God beneath our branches. What an honour this has been for us.

But now let me share Abraham's prayer with you, and I pray, Little Oak, you will also take this prayer into your being and preserve it forever, so that you, too, can share it with your future generations. As my fathers told me, Abraham began to pray, saying:

Heavenly Father, I bow before You with thanksgiving, I and my whole house, thank You for appearing unto us in our homeland in the Ur of the Chaldees. I thank You for calling me and all my house out of Mesopotamia to go to a place we knew not where.

I thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your protection on us as we sojourned to the city of Haran, and the fruitful life you gave to Terah, my father, there. I thank You for speaking to me in the city of Haran, and how Y ou called me out of that place also to come unto this land. O Father it was a hard decision to leave my homeland and my father's house to come unto this land. I thank You, Heavenly Father, for appearing unto me as we entered this valley, and for the great promise of this land to my seed. I pray we will be worthy of this great gift.

We observed as Abraham and each of his family then stood and made the following proclamation for the days ahead. With a loud voice for all Canaan to hear, Abraham declared:

Heavenly Father, this promise I, and those of my household, make to You this day:

As we come to sojourn in the plain of Moreh in the land of Sichem, we therefore establish in our hearts to serve You with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength all the days of our life.

For all those who are with me this day, my wife Sarai, my nephew Lot, and all those You have given to us in Haran, we make an oath this day to walk throughout this land in the way You alone choose. Our desires are Your desires. Lead us in the paths of righteousness for Thy name's sake, O Lord.

Be it known to all, we are but sojourners in this land. We proclaim this day to walk before the one true God, and Him only to serve. And we all do hereby signify by saying, Amen.

What a prayer that was, Little Oak! I have heard this prayer often from my father and grandfather, and it has become my prayer also, and I pray it will become yours, too, Little Oak.

Thank you Grandfather, for sharing Abraham's prayer with me. I will keep it always in my heart. Heavenly Father, give me the courage to proclaim Your will in my life to all I meet, as Abraham and his whole household did that momentous day as they entered into the land of Canaan.
