Friendship Nails

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence....

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it, and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.

You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say, "I'm sorry," the wound is still there." A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

Friends are a very rare jewel indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us.

Show your friends how much you care. And please forgive me if I have ever left a hole in your fence        Author Unknown

His Nail Scarred Hands

I saw His soft bronze skin, so scarred.
And then I caught a glimpse of His hands,
Even they held deep scars within.

And He said,
"What ever happened to you my friend?"

In anger they tied me to a stake and beat Me with a their whip called "cat of nine tails" The flesh was ripped from My back. Then upon My head they placed a sharp crown of thorns. I felt every prick and every cruel lash. They led Me to my place of death and laid Me upon the cross. They drove spikes through My hands and feet and then set the cross into the earth very deep. Then they put the sword into My side, To destroy the heart that was beating just for you.

I will always carry these scars to show My love for you." "The scars upon My body, child, will always be your proof that I love you and think you are beautiful. I will always carry these scars for you."          Author unknown

This Friend is Real

Grief is epidemic. Hearts are sore and bleeding. The home is a lonely place for many. Mealtime brings heartbreaking memories. Loneliness eats into some of us like acid. We hunger for fellowship. We need clear guidance in our everyday affairs. We want to know about our loved ones. Can we find no help when the rain of grief bears down on us day and night?

There is an answer to these heartfelt cries. It is immediate, plain, complete, and human. There is a friend who will share your lonely corner and fill it, and you, with warmth and glad singing.

This friend is real. He has a human touch. He knows all about things down here. He knows what it is like to lose a dear friend unexpectedly. There is not one experience down here that He does not know.

So He can tell you what to do in emergencies and tight corners. And He will. Moreover, He is as closely in touch with your loved ones as with you. He is your connecting link.

What do I mean? Whom am I talking about? Listen, while I try to bypass the hard shell of familiar words to the throbbing realities inside them. He is the Holy Spirit. He understands all that Jesus went through.

There is more. He is the Spirit of the glorified, enthroned Jesus. He knows all our true human feelings and He knows all the divine power. He is truly God, as well as human. His coming to live in you is real. He speaks in this book of God.

He spoke in it long ago, and He will talk to you through its pages today. He will talk directly to your inner spirit. He will surround you with His presence.
