Let The NEW YOU Come Forth
by Lilla Green
"As a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves; so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof." Isaiah 6:13
Stop feeding the old YOU. Cast away old ways and old habits. Let the NEW YOU come forth. You have life-giving substance in you, waiting to be shared with others. But that substance can't come forth now, because you're nourishing dead works.
The NEWNESS needs a start. It needs attention. It needs commitment. All your efforts and energy are spent on dead works.
Cast off those dead leaves. "What dead leaves?" you may wonder......Well, let's take an inventory......
......old ways, .........habits, ........customs, ........friends, loves,
......things that are time-consuming, and don't bring any type of returns.......
Let the old YOU die - ashes to ashes...... dust to dust....... Cast out the dead memories - stop rehashing old scenes.... old conversations..... "played-out" relationships. Begin anew! Put on the NEW MAN, and BE RENEWED in righteousness and true holiness....... Start all over again! God is here and will not leave you! He'll order your steps and lead you beside His still waters - not in stale, stagnant, unproductive paths. But you must make the first step - and cast away those withering, lifeless things you think you cannot live without. If not now, then when?
God wants to nourish you, but you take His nourishment and feed the OLD YOU, starving your INNER MAN of precious substance. Let us obey 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says to let old things pass away..... Romans 6:6 admonishes us to crucify the old man. Colossians 3:8-9 instruct us to put off the old man with his deeds. That precious inner substance within us will only sprout, once we cast forth the OLD MAN. We've been pursuing the dry stubble... driven to and fro.... Job 13:25....wasting precious days, months and years. We've been trifling precious time and spending ourselves in idle and boring endeavors. Let's not waste our gifts, abilities or innate skills any longer. Riotous lifestyles drain us of strength of character, and rob us of our unique qualities. Old ways wear on us, eroding our personalities and eventually ruin our fresh outlook on life. If we don't take heed to God's warning, we'll lose sight on our goals and visions as they suffocate beneath day-to-day routine lifestyles. It's high time to arise and walk honestly. Let's face our failures and tell ourselves - "My plan is man-made - not God-ordained......It needs the power of God, the inspiration of God and the concern of God." Let that holy, chaste character be birthed this day, so that the purpose for which you were planted, will show itself. Someone is waiting on you to emerge from your soil, with blessings, refreshing and life. You have something never before witnessed by the world, until the hand of the Lord attends to YOU personally, caring for you, tending to you and nurturing you. So let's give ourselves to the Lord unreservedly --- for YOU, my friend, are God's well beloved - His choice vine, which He is anxious to fence, to prune and to cultivate.
I beseech you therefore, by the mercy of our loving Father God, that you turn now and present your body unto Him, for this is your reasonable service. Cast off the OLD YOU, and let God gently transform your thoughts, passions and desires by renewing your mind. Then shall you be presented as His cherished possession! After all, you are His holy seed!
Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem. Fashion yourself after the master's plan. Make a change!
"Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments." Genesis 35:2
Allow God to change your filthy garments, clothed with God's glorious change of raiment.
"Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold! I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe with a change of raiment." Zechariah 3:3-4
The Lord desires to change your filthy garments stained with the spirit of heaviness, to the garments of praise, Isaiah 61:3
The Lord desires to fashion our bodies like unto His glorious body.
"For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself." Philippians 3:20
Put on the New Man,
which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness
