"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

Paul is speaking here to those who are young in the Lord. He is saying, "Do not be discouraged when men look down upon you because of your youth." Even though you are young in the Lord you can still be that example of a believer of Jesus Christ.

Today there are so many bad examples for young people to follow, so many ungodly influences to pull them away from God. In school, sometimes in order to be accepted or liked by others, you have to talk, act, look like and do what everyone else is doing.

These are the wrong examples to follow, and the wrong kind of friends to want to be like. These examples are of the world, and the world will be an example (pattern) of an unbeliever. Following after the "Lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life". 1 John 2:16

The unbeliever lives to please himself; the believer lives to please God.

We must decide what example we want to follow, and what example we are to be. Being an example of a believer is following in Christ's footsteps, walking as he walked:

Do others see God in you?

"Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, for the tree is known by his fruit. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." Matthew 12:33,35

Let God and His Word be the "treasure" of your heart, and become that example of a believer.       Eric Maskey

Have you ever sat beside a creek and looked at the trees? Did you ever notice how peaceful it is? It is quiet and when you sit there you feel separated from everybody else; like you are in another world.

Psalm 1:3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

We are the trees. We need to be planted by that river; the Anointed Word of God. When we are planted by the Anointed Word, we bring forth our "fruit", (the Fruit of the Spirit) in due season. Galatians 5:22-23.

Our leaves shall not wither. The leaves help protect the fruit of the tree, and they give life to the tree. Our protection from the world isn't going to fail us. Our protection is the armor of God in Ephesians 6:13-18.

Whatsoever we do shall prosper. Wouldn't that be a blessing? To not have anything backfire on us? It can only happen when we are planted by that Anointed Word.

When we aren't planted by that Anointed Word, it is like being a tree in the middle of a field. It has to plant its roots deep in the earth and travel to get water.

That is the way we are. That earth is the worldly things. In order to get to that Anointed Word we have to go through the world and most of the time we get delayed by the world and never make it to the Word.

We need to be planted by that Anointed Word and not in the middle of the world. When we are planted there (by the anointed word, and not in the world,) we won't dry up in the Spirit.

When we are planted there by the Word we don't have our roots embedded in the world. We have nothing to hold us to the earth and we can go to God easily.

Jeremiah 17:8 "For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease form yielding fruit."

Let's be that tree planted by the Anointed Word of God
where our roots don't have any ties in the world.
