CHOOSE WHOM YOU WILL SERVE
by Kevin Abraham - 12

In the first part of Joshua 24:15, we read this: "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose thee this day whom ye will serve."

If God came back this minute would we be ready? He will only take those who are ready. The rest he will spew out of His mouth.

God says in Matthew 6:24 that we cannot serve both evil and good. We will have to make a choice. It's important to make this choice while we are in our young years. When we are young, we are ready to accept truth; when we are older, we could harden our hearts.

We need to repent and to be sorry for our sins; and we need to do it SOON. However, there is a step past repentance:

"Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have." II Corinthians 8:11

God is looking for those teens who will serve Him today, NOW and to DO what is acceptable in His sight.

The Bible tells us that Jesus will come in a twinkling of a eye, the time He will appear is known to no man. But it will be soon.

So, who will you choose? God does not want this question unanswered. He is not coming back for a people who have not yet answered this question. Tell God that you want to follow Him and do His will: He will help, and your parents will encourage you.   CHOOSE THEE THIS DAY!

WAIT UPON THE LORD

We live in a day where everything has to be done NOW. We can't wait for one week, one day, or even one hour. It must be done NOW.

We have instant pudding, instant hot chocolate, instant coffee, instant tea, instant potatoes... and the list goes on and on. We can't wait. It has to be INSTANT.

Instant in the Webster's dictionary means urgent; pressing; without delay and immediate.

When we get caught up into this and God doesn't answer our prayers "instantly" we get upset. In Isaiah 40:31 it say to "wait upon the Lord". We must learn to wait upon the Lord.

Psalm 25:5 says; "On thee do I wait all the day. : Don't give up when He doesn't answer your prayers right away. You may have to wait an hour, or a day, or a week, or a year, or many years. But I say unto you, "Wait For Him." Psalm 37:7

The world has set itself into a fast pace. We have Fast Food Restaurants. We don't have time to sit down and enjoy our meal. We order a fast meal, want fast service, hurry up and eat, and then we are off on our way. We have drive-thru banks, drive-thru stores, and drive-thru restaurants. Everybody is in a hurry.

Unfortunately God's people are caught up in to this fast pace too. We start serving God like a drive-thru. We drive up, give Him our want list, expect fast service and go. Not taking time to seek His will.

Set yourself free from this fast pace. Take time and seek your Father in Heaven. Take time and pray, read, and sing songs to the Lord. God is waiting on you to wait on Him. In Lamentations 3:25-26 "The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord."

Don't get caught up in the instant, fast pace world . SLOW DOWN and take time with your Father in Heaven.   Keith Huff - elder
