BEING PART OF THE CROWD

A lot of kids today think they have to be part of the crowd to be accepted. Like, smoking, drinking, cussing, certain music, attitude, clothing, diet, etc. That's not so. Daniel 1:10-12:

"And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? Then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. Then said Daniel to Melzar whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink."

Daniel and his friends chose not to be like everyone else, or part of the crowd. Then they were not only accepted by the Israelites but also the Babylonians and the king. So, if you are not part of the crowd, people will accept you better.

Daniel 1:14-15 shows the reward that Daniel and his friends received.

"So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat."

Daniel and his friends were healthier and better looking than those who ate the king's food just to be part of the crowd.

Daniel and his friend's decision of not being part of the crowd benefitted them more than being part of the crowd.

"As for these four children God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom." Daniel 1:17a

We can pray to God and ask for the knowledge and wisdom of what we are to do instead of following the crowd.      Tom Spearman - 14

POWER AND AUTHORITY

"Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

Did you know that as Christians it doesn't matter what your age is? We all have power and authority over Satan as we live our lives as Christians.

"Behold I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all power of the enemy: and nothing shall be any means hurt you." Luke 10:19

Serpents, scorpions, and the enemy. This refers to Satan and his followers. This means that Satan and his followers can put bad ideas and thoughts in our minds but we have control of our minds. The things we do we have control over so we have the right to chose right and wrong.

"And the Lord said unto Satan behold he is in thine hand; but save his life." Job 2:6

Now Job was put to a big test by Satan. But God gave Satan a guide line to follow: he could not take Job's life. It is the same way with you as Christians; God gives Satan guide lines to follow. He can do nothing that God does not want him to do. Everything that happens we have to chose the way that we think Christ would chose. Seek for God's advise in prayer for the right solutions.

When I came to the big change in my life to start following God's way, I quit smoking, drinking, drugs, and cursing. I asked the Lord to help me with all these things. It was easy with the exception of my temper. I really had a hard time getting it under control. But with a lot of work, I've got it about defeated.

One day while I was at work, I was under a semi trailer. I came out from underneath and stood up but I wasn't all the way out and I hit my head on a steel beam on the trailer. It about knocked me out. I stood there and looked at the trailer and snickered a little bit and I said, "Satan, your not going to make me lose my temper. And as quick as I said that, the pain left and I thanked God for taking the pain away before I had a chance to ask.

I could have gotten mad and lost my temper and been in pain for a while and Satan would have loved it. Instead I took control and pleased God and He blessed me by taking away the pain.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7

This incident that happened to me explains that verse. We, as Christians must train ourselves to control the things we do. So we please God and not Satan. So let's order Satan out of our life and not do things to please him. Lets please our Father in heaven.

Some of you may have had something happen to you that might help some one else. Write to us and maybe we can use your incident to help others.   John Adams
