What Is Wrong With Our Country?

Why do we, as a nation, wonder what is happening to our country? Just as the GOD of the Bible took His protective hands off the nation of Israel in the Bible, so has He done to our nation. We were founded on GOD; our Constitution and Bill of Rights are proof of that. We began this nation with the decision to uphold all GOD's statutes and laws. GOD blessed this nation tremendously for following Him. In 1962 when we allowed prayer to be taken out of our schools, GOD lifted His protection and blessings from this country. We, as children, used to pray for ourselves, our families, our schools, and our governments. As children, we believed GOD answered our prayers. And He did. At that point in time when prayer was removed from schools we, as individuals, started to go astray. Our families began to fall apart along with our country. Drugs began to infiltrate our nation in the early sixties and our president was murdered the year after prayer was removed from school. GOD cannot go against His own words. He says He will bless those who follow His laws, and obey His commandments, and the Curse of the law will fall upon all who deny Him. Our nation turned its back on GOD in 1962 and He, in turn, let us go our own way. Our own way has led to self-destruction, just as it did for all nations in the Bible that turned from GOD. We become consumed with the desires of self. Do whatever makes self feel good, no matter what the consequences. We are right where GOD says we will be when we are left to follow our own desires. Parents abusing children, husbands and wives abusing each other, children murdering parents, husbands and wives murdering each other. Sexual immorality abounds and the diseases that accompany it. Crime and debauchery are running rampant in the streets. What will it take to open our eyes? We, as a nation, have tried everything... except GOD!

Our country continues to grow into a worse state than the day before. GOD blessed our country before 1962, and He will save our nation and bless us again if we will only return to Him and reverence Him as the One and Only True GOD. We need a brand new world. To have a brand new world, we need brand new people. To have brand new people, we need a brand new heart. To have a brand new heart, we need a brand new spirit. To have a brand new spirit within us, we need Jesus the Christ in our life. He is the only one that can give man a new spirit.

The Only Hope for this nation is to turn back to GOD - through His propitiation for our sins: Jesus the Christ! We have looked everywhere else for a solution to our problems, but to no avail. Try GOD's way! He has never failed to lift up mankind when man exalted Him. Peace and Joy are the results of a life given to GOD through Jesus Christ. He lifts us above the circumstances. If I can have Peace and Joy as an inmate in the Department of Corrections, you can more assuredly have the same in the outside world. God will change our nation, if we but let Him change us as individuals. God Bless You!

Do we rebel?

When we rebel is it because we don't want to leave the worldly things behind?

"For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two dausghters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of is wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed."    Genesis 19:13-17

Lot knew what the Lord wanted him to do, but it says he lingered, or rebelled. He didn't want to part with the worldly things. When the Lord gives us instructions or commands, we have to do it, but not linger and hold back.

The Lord was merciful to Lot because he served Him with his heart. When we serve Him, He will protect us. This does not mean we can rebel and He will protect us. No, God will not let us get away with it.

"But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt." Genesis 19:26

Lot's wife rebelled. She didn't want to leave the things of the world and was punished for it. The Lord will punish his people for rebelling.

"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise." Psalm 57:7

We have to have our hearts fixed (like David) or we have to be determined not to rebel if we want to keep from rebelling. Also if we pray and ask the Lord for help and guidance He will help us: if we are determined. Lot was determined not to look back. It worked. Don't rebel against God, and "remember Lot's wife."
