"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity , it profiteth me nothing,
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth. all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth:" 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a
Charity means love. There are many gifts of God but, the greatest gift of all is the gift of love.
"The mouth of the righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins." Proverbs 10:11-12
Verse 11 says the mouth of a righteous man is a well of life. What comes from a well? Water, and water spiritually represents the Word of God. If the Word of God is coming out of our mouth then we are a well of life.
Verse 12 points out that hatred stirs up strifes: but love covers all sins. Even though we may have said something we regret, love can heal all relationship. If it seems like your family is falling apart, its going to take love to pull you together again. It's easy to argue and fight with those you love. Especially as teenagers it is hard to treat your parents with respect and love. It's also hard to express your love to those you are around a lot. But, you must let love bond and heal your relationships. With family most importantly. Also, with others in authority over you like teachers and counselors, and with friends.
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed, The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that you might be healed. Be at peace. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. God works through prayer. Open line of communication with your parents and with God is what we are talking about here. Be open with your parents. Be open with God in your prayer time. Be open and honest with others and yourself.
Be open to let the love of God rule in your life. Let's all remember what Jesus said about love.
"Jesus said unto him, THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL thy heart, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH ALL THY MIND. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF." Matthew 22:37-39
The greatest gift is love. Accept it from the Lord. Then, exercise it as much as you can in your life. Robert Bixler - Elder
Becoming Well Pleasing To God
In Luke 3:22, in the bottom part, it says, "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Are we well pleasing in the sight of God? If not, think of what can be changed. However, if you try to change by what man thinks it will seldom be right. Jeremiah 17:9 says "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?" Who can know what God wants if the heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked? Romans 10: 3 says "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God." Man is ignorant of God's righteousness and have not submitted themselves to God's way of dealing with things.
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10
God already has the way prepared for us to change. All we have to do is let God take control of what needs changed, and then we can work it out and become more pleasing to God. Lydia Spearman - 12
