Gold Plated, 10K, 24K, or Transparent Gold

"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." I Peter 1:7

One of the commandments that God gives us, that He puts His guaranteed promise on is: "Honor thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12

Colossians 3:20 says "Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord."

Faith and obedience is a quality that both children and parents need to learn. It is not easy to always be obedient and faithful, but there are great rewards in it: spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

The testing of our faith is most often times through our obedience to the authorities God has placed over us. It was through one man's disobedience (Adam) that the world is in the terrible mess of hatred, violence, crime, death, etc. But through one son's total obedience (Jesus) to His Father (God) He has given us all an opportunity to come back into our Father God's kingdom of love, peace, joy, and no death if we follow His example of obedience. This is not easy. That is why we have to trust in the Lord with all of our heart and lean not unto our own understanding. Acknowledge Him (By His Word) in all of our ways and He will direct our paths, (Proverbs 3:5,6).

We have to trust in the authorities that God has placed over us. Pilate told Jesus "Don't you know I have the authority to have you crucified," and Jesus answered and said "you would have no authority unless my Father had given it to you."

In Matthew 8:5 their was a Roman centurion who was seeking Jesus to have one of his servants healed. He loved his servant very much, just as Jesus loves us very much and wants us, His servants, to be healed form the sins caused through the disobedience of mankind.

This centurion was given Jesus' greatest commendation of what faith is through obedience. Let's read what the Word says in Matthew: "And when Jesus entered into Capernaum, there came unto Him a centurion, beseeching Him. And saying, Lord my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. (As we are tormented grievously in the sins that so easily entangle us that bring spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental pain.) And Jesus said unto him "I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." (Here it comes, are you ready?) "For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man GO, AND HE GOETH: and to another, come, AND HE COMETH; and to my servant, do this, AND HE DOETH IT. (No wonder he loves his servant and wants him healthy, happy, and healed, because his servant obeys him.) When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to them that followed. Verily I say unto you, I have not found so GREAT FAITH, no, not in Israel." Matthew 8:5-10

Without faith you cannot please God. Without obedience you will never enter into God's promises. Every promise of God has a condition and every condition requires faith and obedience. Your faith is more precious than gold. Isaiah 13:12 says "I will make a man more precious than fine gold;" Job 23:10 says "But He knoweth the way that I take, when He has tried me, I shall comforth as gold. God is trying us and testing us everyday. We may whimper and we may not want to be obedient unto God. But His love for us is greater than our feelings. He loves us so much that He will not leave us in our wretched, soiled, and carnal condition.

God is always using precious metals and stones as an example of how He purifies us to be able to enter into His presence.

Let's look at gold. Gold starts out with impurities, dross. We, like gold, start out with impurities. For one, foolishness is bound in the heart of a child. But by putting gold in the fire it becomes more and more pure as the flame gets hotter. If gold had emotions, it would be screaming bloody murder. Most people are like gold. They would rather stop at being gold plated, which has hardly any value at all and the golden shine wears off after awhile, and is usually discarded in the trash. Some people will go on to 10K; disliking the pain of growth, but receiving some reward from going on in the fire of God. (Remember, our God is a consuming fire.) If sin (dross) is in your life He will burn it up. This is why He doesn't appear to us all at once. He would completely consume us.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had allowed God to purify them in their steady walk in Christ. They went way beyond 24K gold. They were of the most purest gold. Their faith, being more precious than gold, was put to the ultimate test. Total obedience unto death. They too, like Jesus, were obedient unto death but came out more alive, more pure, and with more freedom than they had ever had before. They were obedient unto God and the king's authority until that government wanted them to deny their God and give the government the praise, glory, and obedience reserved and due only to God. This also was a test. The penalty of disobedience to the government was death. But these men knew that to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

The fire was heated up seven times hotter than it had ever been. The men who hadn't prepared their lives through faith and obedience were consumed with the fire when they threw the three men in. These men died in God's fire; not to return again. The three Hebrew children were not scorched at all by the fire. They had been willing participants of God's cleansing process throughout their lives. They stayed in Christ and never gave up. There was one thing that the fire did burn on Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: the ropes of the government that bound them. They were totally free. These three men were obedient to their parents - 10K gold; they went on to be obedient to authorities - 24K gold; then they went on to total obedience to God unto death - pure gold.

God is a consuming fire that burns off all the dross in our lives, (disobedience, unfaithfulness, foolishness, rebellion, hatred, and death). When our Father is through with us we will be as transparent gold. There will be nothing hidden in our lives. Our lives will be transparent before all the world. Our Father will proudly and boldly display us. We will be vessels of honor, fit for the Father's house.

Where will you stop? Gold plated ? 10K? 24K? Or will you go on to be transparent gold?

Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: They shall call on My name; and I will hear them: I will say, it is My people; and they shall say the Lord is my God.
