Peer Pressure

Sometimes it is hard to see clearly when you are a teenager, so you follow someone else. Who are you following? Blind men? The blind leading the blind. When you follow a blind man you have to listen for the tapping of the cane and hope they know where they are going. You had better be sure that's where you want to go.

Are these people that are leading you to strange places, really your peers? If you're in Christ and the Spirit tells you not to follow them; they aren't your peers.

Webster's dictionary defines "PEER" as "a person or thing of the same or equal rank or ability, etc...".

If these people aren't walking with the Lord, then they are not your peers and you shouldn't be following them.

Isaiah 51:1 says to "Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord..."

In each Gospel, the Lord told His disciples to "Follow Me."

III John 11 says "Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God, but he that doeth evil hath not seen God."

I Corinthians 14:1 states "Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts..." We know when the Bible talks of "Charity", it means "LOVE".

I Corinthians chapter 13 tells what LOVE is, and what it isn't.

If we are following people who are seeking notoriety, fame, and fortune, but we don't like to be around them and they love not their brothers, we need to stop, step back, and take a look at who we are following. Ask yourself, "Am I rejoicing in the truth, bearing all things, enduring all things?" Love never fails.

When our friends forsake us, and those blind leaders and peers turn on us, "Rejoice" and again I say "Rejoice".

Philippians 4:5-8 "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand, Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Instead of complaining about "Peer Pressure" give your friends an alternative; something better than what they have. Give them something better to believe in, become their leader. You know where you're going. Lead them with and into love.         Bill LeVasseur

The Lord says that faith as a grain of mustard seed can move a mountain. What can you do to make your faith real? You must trust completely in the Lord no matter what happens.

If something happens to you or someone you love, it does not mean the Lord has forgotten you. It just means that He may be trying you or that He is testing your faith.

When you say "mountain" do you think of a towering mass of rocks? It says that you can move mountains but it does not always mean a mass of rocks. It can mean getting rid of anger that is as big as a mountain or unforgiveness of something or someone. Use your faith and move your mountains.

Faith doesn't just appear one day. "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God," Romans 10:17. It takes work. Read; study out the verses. Pray; ask God how the Word applies to you. Seek the Lord; spend quiet time meditating on what you have read. Through these things your faith increases.

As I said before, trust completely in God. With God on your side you can move anything.

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

"And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and It shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Matthew 17:20

Be strong and faithful. Start to develope your spiritual ears to hear what God says and do accordingly.

It goes in and sticks to you it may be all you think about for a long time. Then you know that the Lord is speaking to you. It also quickens (gives life to) the spirit. We must believe no matter what it looks like.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
