Who Are The Young Men?

We need to look at two kinds of young men in God's Word to find the answer to this question.

When we read I Samuel 2:17-18 we find the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord, but when we read in I John 2:13-14 we find young men are the ones who are strong, and the Word of God abideth in them, and they have overcome the wicked one.

Ask yourself, are you as the young men in I Samuel 2:17 whose sin was very great or are you as the young men in I John 2:13-14? Where are the young men today? Are they strong? Does the Word of God abide in them? Are they overcoming the wicked one?

Looking closely again at I Samuel 2:17-18, we find the young men abhorred the offering of the Lord. The word abhorred means "to kick, to push or drive away, to refuse or reject". These young men were kicking and refusing what the Lord had offered to them. These Scriptures also tell us these young men were to eat of the meat that was boiling in water. The boiling water is God's Word that is turned up in our lives. The meat is the meat of God's Word. The young men have refused the fiery trials in their lives. They kick at God's Word, and go about with their own words and ideas. But praise the Lord there are young men today as Samuel,

"But Samuel grew, and the Lord was with Him, and he let none of His Words fall to the ground." I Samuel 3:19

As Samuel grew into a young man he did not let any of God's Word fall to the ground. This describes the young men in I John 2:13-14. Ask yourself, "Am I becoming one of God's young men who are becoming strong in His Word and overcoming the wicked one, or do I refuse and kick against the fiery trials the Lord has given me to grow by?

New School Prayer.....

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule.

For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple or orange or green,
That's no offense, it's the freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise,
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the State.

We're allowed to cuss & dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues & cheeks.

They've outlawed guns; but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the unwed daddy, our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms, & birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires & totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No Word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot,

My soul please take. Author Unknown
